Do you want to identify your risk of injury? Are you still recovering from a previous injury you sustained? Do you feel limited in your progression and wish to improve your performance? If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, you could benefit from a video movement assessment.
At PREP Performance Center, we provide video movement assessments using Dartfish Video Analysis software. This form of diagnostic testing is used to determine strengths, weaknesses, movement dysfunctions, and compensations that can lead to overuse injuries. If you are interested in learning more about how video movement assessments can help improve your function and lower your risk of injury, contact our Chicago physical therapy office today!
Why we use video movement assessments:
Video movement assessments are used to evaluate your balance, stabilization, strength, and movement, pinpointing any areas of dysfunction. There are several different types of movement that this type of assessment may examine, such as:
- Squats
- Squat jumps
- Single leg squats
- Single leg squat jumps
According to Science Direct, movement can be recorded and analyzed using the combined techniques of video recording and computer processing. During a video movement assessment, the physical activity itself is not the only thing being evaluated; rather, each part of your body is being looked at individually. This will help in determining any problem areas that exist while you are performing the exercises that you are asked to do.
This diagnostic test is done by recording any or all of the exercises listed above. The Dartfish system then slows down each recording to pinpoint which areas are at risk for sustaining an injury, as well as which ones could use efficiency improvement.
When the system detects a movement fault, one of our highly trained Chicago physical therapists will then conduct a physical evaluation to determine the underlying causes of said fault by examining the joint(s) and muscle capacity. A treatment plan will then be designed to correct the fault.
